Slow Movement for Precision and Healing – A Systema Seminar

Join us for a weekend seminar dedicated to harnessing the power of slow movement for martial arts precision and personal development. In this intensive workshop, we’ll focus on the art of controlled, deliberate motion to enhance your martial arts skill and deepen your understanding of the body’s natural responses.

Through slow movement, you will:

  • Sharpen your control and awareness, ensuring each movement is intentional and precise
  • Enhance your martial arts effectiveness by developing a deeper understanding of timing, distance, and body mechanics
  • Integrate relaxed movement to improve reflexes and fluidity, even under stress or during high-intensity situations.

Focus on recovery and healing, using the principles of Systema to address injuries and prevent strain.

This seminar is ideal for practitioners of all levels who want to develop more effective martial arts skills while fostering an increased sense of body awareness and resilience. Whether you’re looking to refine your approach to combat or simply improve your movement for overall health, this workshop will provide the tools and insights to take your practice to the next level.

Systema Seminar Led by Bill Parravano, Certified Systema InstructorBill Parravano Systema Asheville Certified Systema instructor

I began my 15-year Judo journey in 1990 at the University of Toledo, competing nationally and internationally for several years. A severe knee injury in 1998 shifted my focus toward the healing arts, and leading me to Systema in 1999. I immersed myself in training, traveling frequently to Toronto, and earned my Certification as an Instructor in 2004. Over the years, I ran Systema schools in Louisville, KY, Charleston, SC, and Asheville, NC.

Through my recovery, I found that Systema helped me reconnect with and feel “normal” in my body again. Alongside my study of an osteopathically-based bodywork approach (also beginning in 1999), I developed a deeper understanding of how to use these two practices together to support physical healing.
